Janessa Buffone

Janessa began her dance career at the age of three, where she was enrolled in kinderdance at Centre Stage Dance Studio. She continued her training at Studio One Dance, when it opened in 2001, where she was trained in multiple genres of dance including; ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, national, lyrical, acro, cabaret, hip hop and musical theatre.

Janessa has been examined and awarded The British Association of Teachers of Dancing Pre Primary- Grade 5 certificate of merits in ballet, tap and jazz. Through these examinations, Janessa has also been acknowledged for her outstanding performance and has been invited to the B.A.T.D Scholarship weekend in Toronto Ontario, numerous times to compete provincially with other exceptional dancers.  She has been awarded top 10 placements in Junior Ballet, Junior Jazz, and Senior Jazz and has performed in their B.A.T.D Scholarship Showcase. Janessa has also had the opportunity to work with professional dance companies such as the Minnesota Ballet, in their annual Nutcracker Performance, where she played various roles including the lead “Marie”.  Not only has Janessa been in many performances but has been a competitive dancers almost all her life.  

Janessa recognized her love for tap at a very early age when she did her first competitive tap solo at the age of seven. Ever since, she has been awarded multiple first place awards, several tap scholarships and various judges’ choice awards. Janessa has traveled to New York City, Toronto, and has taken local tap classes to expand her tap knowledge. These classes have allowed her to learn from and tap alongside, Jay Fagan, Suzy Guarino, Jason E. Bernard, Ray Hesselink, Evan Ruggiero and many more!

Janessa is ecstatic to be part of the Studio One Dance Faculty and is eager to share her love of tap with her students.
